The Larson Electronics SPLEDXL-LEDLB80X2E-IR-940NM Solar Powered Infrared LED Light is an ideal lighting solution for remote areas and standalone applications where connection to external power is either impractical or unavailable. This rechargeable solar powered LED light is offered in a spotlight or floodlight beam pattern and several different operating configurations, making it ideal for remote applications. Equipped with a 48" x 36" x 24" solar charge controller box with fans and battery bank, the infrared light operates with a 940nm wavelength.

This solar powered infrared LED light is powered by twelve, 40aH lithium iron phosphate 12V batteries which are recharged by a 265-watt solar panel. Light output comes from one, 240-watt infrared LED lamp with a 940 nm band. This solar-powered lighting system is configured to operate non-stop 24/7, day/night with photocell, motion sensor for security purposes, on/off switch for manual operation or flying leads for operators to connect to user provided external switches. The day/night and motion sensor is programmed to activate the light in the evening and to shut it off during the day, activating the LED light when ambient lighting falls below 1 lux. The motion sensor will activate the light upon detecting movement within range of the panel.

The battery pack is contained within the solar panel, not the light. This system can operate for 12 hours per full battery charge. As with all solar powered equipment, charging time is affected by the amount of available ambient light. When ambient light levels drop below a certain level, such as on cloudy days, the unit will not recharge.

Light Features: The solar powered system is equipped with an infrared light which produces infrared illumination with a 940 nm wavelength. This light generates a tightly focused, 1,750-foot long by 300 foot wide spot beam with limited spread or light spillage. We offer optional floodlight versions of this light that have 35-degree optics to produce a wider beam spread and more infrared light over a larger area near the fixture. These LED light bars are IP68 rated and waterproof to 3 meters, sealed against intrusion by dust and dirt and very ruggedly constructed to withstand most demanding environments, conditions and applications.

The entire Larson Electronics LEDLB-E series are constructed of extruded aluminum and feature heavier housings, rubber isolated mounts and unbreakable polycarbonate lenses to provide increased durability against vibrations, impacts, waves, hard rains, sand and high winds. This light is equipped with a trunnion mounting bracket that allows operators to adjust the light fixture through 270 degrees of movement.

LED Benefits: Unlike gas burning and arc type lamps that have glass bulbs, LEDs have no filaments or fragile housings to break during operation and/or transportation. Instead of heating a small filament or using a combination of gases to produce light, light emitting diodes (LEDs) use semi-conductive materials that illuminate when electric current is applied, providing instant illumination with no warm up or cool down time before re-striking. Because there is no warm up period, this light can be cycled on and off with no reduction in lamp life.

LED lights run at significantly cooler temperatures than traditional metal halide and high pressure sodium lights and contain no harmful gases, vapors, or mercury, making them both safer and more energy efficient. No extra energy is wasted in cooling enclosed work areas due to external heat emissions from bulb type lights, and the operator risks associated with traditional lighting methods, such as accidental burns and exposure to hazardous substances contained in the glass bulbs, are eliminated. In addition, LEDs are also safer for the environment as they are 100% recyclable, which eliminates the need for costly special disposal services required with traditional gas burning and arc type lamps.

Heat Management: Heat is the single largest factor in premature LED failure and color shifting. These LED units contain advanced drivers which use pulse width modulation to control heat buildup rather than simple voltage regulators which are typically harsh on sensitive electronics and can contribute to early LED failure. These units automatically sense the temperature of each LED and adjust the energy frequency or "duty cycle" accordingly to maintain heat levels within acceptable ranges. This system in essence flashes current at an extremely fast on and off rate to each LED based upon the LED`s core temperature. This flash rate is too fast to detect with the human eye, but provides precise control of the current flowing to each LED and thus the heat it generates. This allows the LEDs to be driven at up to 100% capacity without overheating or visible loss of light output. The LEDs are always driven at the same voltage but the duty cycle, however, is changed to alter how long the LEDs are actually on or off. The end result is more light with less heat and longer LED life with an average 70% lumen maintenance after 50,000 hours.

Voltage Control: These units are able to monitor and adjust input current to maintain the correct LED voltage levels regardless of input levels across a specific range. These LEDLB series light bars can operate on current ranging from 9 to 42V DC without any modifications necessary as a result. This multi-voltage capability makes these units ideal for mobile and standalone applications such as those found on commercial boats, heavy equipment and vehicles where power systems donÕt always operate with 12 volts and external generators, transformers or inverters are impractical.

Wiring: The SPLEDXL-LEDLB80X2E-IR-940NM comes with a 20-foot cord connecting the solar panel and the batteries and another 20-foot cord connecting the light and the batteries. This allows the light to be mounted separately from the panel. This means the solar panel can be mounted in direct sunlight while the light is mounted in a workspace. The cord between the light and panel ends in Deutsch connectors, allowing an optional longer extension cord to be attached, increasing the distance the light can be installed from the panel. Optional longer extension cords are available at additional cost. Alternatively, the light can be mounted directly to the panel. Larson Electronics can also configure this light for special requirements including different lights and larger batteries.

Applications: Suggested uses for this light include both commercial and industrial applications as well as consumer based installations. This light is ideal for boat docks, remote locations that rely on batteries for power, exterior outbuilding infrared lighting, hunting cabins, parking areas, driveway security lighting and anywhere a standalone infrared lighting solution is needed.
