External Ballast for EPL-HB-400W-MH light fixtures for Remote Mounting Ballast in Hot Box ApplicationsThis ballast is used in combination with the EPL-HB-400W-MH-NB explosion proof light fixtures. This ballast is mounted in a remote location, external from the fixture. This allows the fixture to be installed in high heat (hot box) applications where the ballast would not survive the high temperatures.Choose metal halide or high pressure sodium lamp type when ordering.Hot Box Application: This unit is designed for use with a remote ballast high temp operations commonly referred to as "hot box" applications. The remote ballast is not included. The customer must take care of the ballast and mounting the ballast, commonly done in a ballast room, and run customer provided wire from the ballast to the lamp. Using a remote ballast allows the ballast to remain cool while the fixture itself is in a hot box application, extending the longevity of the ballast by not exposing it to heat which is the primary factor that shortens ballast lifespan.
