Made in Texas The Larson Electronics EP-MGS-DC-4X480.30A-10KVA-8X120.20A hazardous location power distribution substation converts 480VAC electrical current into single phase 120/240VAC. This unit provides operators the ability to safely tap into and distribute 480VAC power from a variety of sources within Class I, Division 2 environments including generators and direct grid power. On the secondary side, eight GFCI-protected explosion proof receptacles are available for powering single-phase 120V equipment. *PLEASE NOTE: ANY FREE SHIPPING OFFERS DO NOT APPLY TO POWER DISTRIBUTION PANELS, TRANSFORMERS, OR SUBSTATIONS* Portable Power Distribution Purpose and UseThe EP-MGS-DC-4X480.30A-10KVA-8X120.20A hazardous location portable power distribution system gives operators the ability to power their 480 volt and 120 volt equipment from a single system. On the primary side, operators connect three-phase 480V line-in power via 25` of #8/4 Type W cord with an APJ6485 cord cap to four 480V deadfront interlocking explosion proof receptacles for three-phase 480V equipment (accepts APJ style plugs). On the secondary side, operators connect to eight 125V explosion proof GFCI receptacles for 120V equipment. For increased reliability during operation, line-in power as well as connections between the disconnect and transformer and between the transformer and secondary panel consist of heavy-duty SOOW cords. Operation: A 25` #8/4 Type W line-in cord with a 60-amp 600VAC/250VDC rated APJ6485 cord cap brings 480V three phase power to a Class I, Division 1 225-amp, 480V three-phase main lug only panel, which contains four 30-amp, 480V, 3-pole breakers protecting four 480V, 30 amp deadfront interlocking explosion proof receptacles and one 30-amp, 2-pole breaker protecting the 10KVA transformer. Liquid-tite flexible cord connects the primary panel to the hazardous location transformer. The Class I, Division 2 10KVA transformer converts 480V single phase power to 120/240V single phase and passes the current to the secondary panel. Liquid-tite flexible cord connects the transformer to the secondary panel. The secondary side of the hazardous location transformer feeds a Class I, Division 1 100-amp, 120/240V single phase main lug only panel. This secondary panel contains eight 20-amp, 125V breakers protecting eight 20-amp, 125V, 5-15R / 5-20R explosion proof receptacles, which are individually protected with GFCI. The secondary receptacles are of the twist-lock nature, accepting both 5-15P and 5-20P explosion proof plugs. The plugs must be pressed in and twisted to energize. The receptacles are mounted to an aluminum back plate for easy connection for equipment in the field. All receptacles are equipped with weatherproof covers. Protective Construction: Unlike many portable power distribution boxes made of plastic and utilizing thin gauge, low grade metals in their construction, this unit is designed for serious use and is ruggedly constructed to withstand demanding conditions and heavy duty industrial applications. The transformer and load assembly are mounted on a non-sparking aluminum mounting platform and the load center/distribution assembly is mounted to the standard 2" x 2" square non-sparking aluminum tubing frame, resulting in an extremely stable, durable and well protected power distribution platform. This model is equipped with forklift skid pockets, non-sparking locking casters, and four top located lifting eyelets at every corner which allow easy lifting with cable or chain hooks. This can be replaced for an additional cost with stainless steel or hot dip galvanized steel depending on the customers needs. Larger units are available upon request and can be equipped with skids or trailer mounted. Certification: Larson Electronics is a UL 1640 panel shop and certified to build portable power distribution systems. All units are built in accordance to NFPA 70 (National Electric Code) and certified to UL 1640. All equipment is NEMA 3R rated for indoor and outdoor use and provide a degree of protection against dirt, water, and ice. NEMA 4 and NEMA 4X equipment can be equipped upon request. Grounding: Transformer is grounded to the frame and we provide a grounding lug on the frame for the earth ground. ~Please check all motor loads for dual rated motors that will work 208 or 240.~ Applications: This power distribution system is designed for indoor and outdoor use in hazardous location areas for shipyard, plant maintenance and construction applications.
