Made in Texas The Larson Electronics MGS-480-3X50A-30KVA-120.240-4X120.20A temporary power distribution system converts three phase 480VAC input current to single phase 120/240VAC. This power distribution system provides operators the ability to safely tap into and distribute 480VAC and 120VAC power from a variety of sources including generators and direct grid power. This portable substation is suitable for outdoor applications, with a fully potted transformer and NEMA 3R load center. This power distribution system is configured to transform 480V to 120/240V 1Phase. This unit provides an effective power distribution system for operators performing plant turnarounds, maintenance, equipment installations and any activities requiring an alternative to native power sources. This portable transformer is designed to operate with three phase 480V, 60hz (input), which it then steps down to single phase 120VAC and single phase 240VAC via the transformer. The power distribution system on this portable substation makes 120VAC available via (4) 5-20R 20A, 125V GFCI protected duplex receptacles and 480VAC available via (3) CS8169 50A, 480V receptacles. Operation: The 20` 2/4 Type W line-in cord brings 480V three phase power to the NEMA 3R 150-amp main breaker 480V three phase primary main panel, which contains three 50-amp breakers protecting three 50-amp, 480V CS8169 receptacles, and one 80-amp, 480V breaker protecting the 37.5 KVA transformer. From the primary main panel, 480V single phase power is passed to the transformer. The NEMA 3R 37.5 KVA transformer converts 480V single phase power to 120/240V single phase and passes the current to the secondary panel. The secondary side of the transformer feeds a NEMA 3R 100-amp, 120/240V single phase main breaker panel. This secondary panel contains four 20-amp, 120V breakers protecting four 20-amp, 5-20R GFCI protected duplex receptacles. All receptacles are equipped with weatherproof covers. Protective Construction: Unlike many portable power distribution boxes made of plastic and utilizing thin gauge, low grade metals in their construction, this unit is designed for serious use and is ruggedly constructed to withstand demanding conditions and heavy duty industrial applications. The transformer and load assembly is mounted on a 3/16" thick carbon steel mounting platform and the load center/distribution assembly is mounted to the standard 2" x 2" x 1/8" square carbon steel tubing frame, resulting in an extremely stable, durable and well protected power distribution platform. This model is equipped with forklift skid pockets, locking casters, and a top located lifting eyelet which allows easy lifting with cable or chain hooks. This can be replaced for an additional cost with stainless steel, hot dip galvanized steel, or aluminum depending on the customer’s needs. Larger units are available upon request and can be equipped with skids or trailer mounted. Certification: Larson Electronics is a UL 1640 panel shop and certified to build portable power distribution systems. All units are built in accordance to NFPA 70 (National Electric Code) and certified to UL 1640. All equipment is NEMA 3R rated for indoor and outdoor use and provide a degree of protection against dirt, water, and ice. NEMA 4 and NEMA 4X equipment can be equipped upon request.
