Buy American Compliant The EPL-20W-HID-X12V-347V-GR50 from Larson Electronics is a handheld inline low voltage explosion proof search light that produces a brilliant light beam capable of reaching over 2,500 feet, making it ideal for inspection and work activities where long range is important. The EPL-20W-HID-X12V-347V-GR50 features 30 feet of cord on a white general application cord reel and an inline transformer enclosed in a Polycase that steps down the input voltage from 347V AC down to 12V DC. The EPL-20W-HID-X12V-347V-GR50 is designed to be hardwired and is safe to use within non-hazardous work areas. *PLEASE NOTE: While the search light itself is approved for hazardous areas, the inline transformer and cord reel/cord cap are NOT rated for hazardous areas.* The EPL-20W-HID-X12V-347V-GR50 features a stepdown transformer that steps the 347V AC input voltage down to 12V DC on the output side. The transformer is located on the input side of the cord reel. The transformer leads to the general application cord reel which is equipped with 50 feet of 16/3 chemical and abrasion resistant SOOW cable attached to the unit`s handheld HID flashlight. Cord Reel Information: The cord reel on the EPL-20W-HID-X12V-347V-GR50 is designed for a lift/drag of up to 50FT of 16AWG/3C SOW/SOOW round cable. Reel with cable installed/tested comes with 50FT active travel plus an additional 2FT for safety wrap and hook up. The slip ring enclosure is built to NEMA standard; 600V rated, and has 3 conductors (2 Live + 1 Ground). This reel is UL Listed (UL/cUL), and is constructed of durable steel, has a red powder coat finish and includes a ball stop and a ratchet with a lockout feature. The cord reel is surface mounted and can be used indoors or outdoors. This explosion proof HID flashlight features always on operation to provide operators with a constant source of light for a variety of applications including tank cleaning, close work and inspections. A single 20 watt short arc Xenide HID bulb powered by an internal ballast produces a 1200 lumen beam capable of reaching up to 2,500 feet. This handheld spotlight is IP68 rated waterproof, making it capable of withstanding submersion under pressure without damage. The beam on this light is a 12¡ spot configuration and is not adjustable. The HID bulb in this unit provides high power and efficiency as well as a 6500k color temperature, producing a powerful beam that is a brilliant white-blue in color. The durable aluminum body has a black anodized coating to provide durable protection for this units` internal electronics and an aesthetically pleasing appearance. The EPL-20W-HID-X12V-347V-GR50 inline searchlight has a single push button switch that allows easy one handed operation, which combined with its rugged construction and powerful beam, makes it a competent all around flashlight capable of serving in industrial, commercial, tactical and private applications with equal effectiveness. This hazardous location approved searchlight is UL Certified:Class I Division 1 Groups A, B, C and D Class I Division 2 Groups A, B, C and D Class II Division 1 Groups E, F and GClass II Division 2 Groups E, F and G A brief note about High Intensity Discharge (HID) flashlights:Incandescent flashlights have a bulb with a filament, much like the common household light bulb. A consistent amount of current is fed to the bulb. The filament glows and light and heat are produced. The filament glows because it is a poor conductor of electricity. Eventually the filament breaks due to vibration or diminished capacity. HID flashlights have a globe of gas that contains bounded by electrodes. A spark jumps across the electrodes igniting the gas. Initially, the amount of current required to ignite the gas is higher. Once the gas is lit, much less current is required to keep the gas burning. A device called a ballast controls the amount of current sent to the bulb. HID flashlights use about 50% less energy than incandescent bulbs, which means longer lamp life than halogen incandescent bulbs. More importantly, HID lights have no filament to break. Thus, the HID bulb life is around 2500 hours, compared to several hundred hours of the filament based incandescent bulb. The HID bulb is more efficient, so it produces much more light with less energy over a long period of time. The trade off, however, is that the ballast that sends current to the bulb is an expensive addition, increasing the cost of the flashlight. The bulb itself is also significantly more expensive than halogen bulbs. Voltage: The step-down transformer installed in-line provide the ability to automatically monitor and adjust input current to maintain the correct LED voltage levels regardless of input levels across a specific range. These transformers can operate on current 347V AC. The inline transformer then steps down the input voltage to 12V DC to power the general application searchlight Click Photos to Enlarge 5-15 Straight Blade Plug15 Amp / 125V Rated L5-15 Twist Lock Plug15 Amp / 125V Rated L6-15 Twist Lock Plug15 Amp / 250V Rated UK BS1363 Straight Blade Plug13 Amp / 250V Rated / Internal Fuse Intl Schuko 2-Pin Plug16 Amp / 250V Rated / Grounded Flying Leads / Pigtail Wires Wiring/Plug: This general use HID search light with cord reel is equipped with 50 feet of 16/3 chemical and abrasion resistant SOOW cord that is fitted with an industrial grade cord cap for easy connection to common wall outlets.
