The switch only allows a small amount of outward trim movement. A waterproof tilt control system makes it easier for one person to change the motor support at the stern of the boat. The switch can also be used to remotely modify the hydraulic jack plates. You may over-trim and lift the drive or outboard to the point where the prop begins to aerate and lose bite on the water; in this case, the boat's speed will drop even as the engine's RPM rises.
