The 160-degree thermostat provides a 30-degree increase in temperature over the standard 140-degree factory version, eliminating any drivability issues caused by excessively lean running times. It has an improved internal temperature control design to properly deliver heat at higher ambient temperatures with some model intakes, and it replaces the 180-degree thermostat found in many older GM engines.
