The seal timing cover keeps engine oil and coolant in a while, withstanding the forces of the two surfaces expanding, contracting, warping, and rubbing. In some installations, the oil pump may be located inside the timing cover, necessitating the use of a gasket to seal high-pressure oil as well. The 118-1213 seal timing cover set incorporates application-specific technology like PermaDryPlus or Blue Stripe to assist a good seal.
