The EPEXC-25-8.4-30A-3P4W from Larson Electronics is a 480 Volt, 3-Pole 4-Wire, 30 Amp Continuous Service, 8/4 25` Explosion Proof Extension Cord Rated is rated Class I Division 1 Groups C & D and Class II Division 1 Groups F, & G for use within hazardous locations. The Larson Electronics EPEXC-25-8.4-30A-3P4W Explosion Proof extension cord allows operators to safely extend the range of their explosion proof light or equipment cords beyond the boundaries of the hazardous work area. This Class I Division 1 extension cord is constructed of 25 feet of 8/4 SOOW explosion proof cord and rated for 30 amps of continuous service. The SOOW cable is chemical and abrasion resistant and comes with an explosion proof, 480V, pin and sleeve, 30 amp receptacle installed on one end and an explosion proof 30 amp plug installed on the other end. The 3-pole, 4-wire, pin-and-sleeve explosion proof plug on this extension cord cord can only be used in pin and sleeve style receptacles and will not work in standard electrical outlets. Plug: The EPEXC-25-8.4-30A-3P4W explosion proof extension cord features the EPP-30A.480V explosion proof plug. This plug is rated at 30 amps and is compatible with our EPO-30A.480V explosion proof 30 amp outlet. This pin and sleeve male plug must be mated to an explosion proof pin and sleeve style 480V outlet. This plug is designed to lock into compatible twist lock receptacles by twisting the plug body until an audible click is heard, which indicates the plug is securely connected. Once locked into place this plug will not accidentally pull out. The delayed reaction pin and sleeve twist lock design allows the arc generaeted heat and arc chambers to cool before being exposed to the atmosphere. This plug is watertight and ideal for applications where moisture and corrosion is a problem and well suited for use in marine and manufacturing environments. This plug is rated Class I Division 1 and 2 and is suitable for use in areas where petrochemical vapors may be present. This explosion proof plug features non sparking aluminum construction, a longer housing for easy handling, specially designed brass pins for secure full length pin contact, and a 30 amp max current rating at 480V. This unit is rated to 5 horsepower at 480V and 10 horsepower at 460V. Outlet: The EPEXC-25-8.4-30A-3P4W comes equipped with the EPO-30A.480V explosion proof 480V 30 amp receptacle. This receptacle is a 3-Pole 4-Wire Pin/Sleeve configuration and features a delayed reaction twist lock design. This receptacle is factory sealed and wet location approved and has a durable iron alloy construction. The EPO-30A.480V receptacle is rated to 5 horsepower at 480V and 10 horsepower at 460V. The plugs on these units are of a sliding lock design. In order for a secure and working connection to take place, the operator must first slide the plug into the explosion proof receptacle to the first stop, slide the locking mechanism to the right, then fully insert the plug until it locks into place. This ensures a safe seal is made and that the plug cannot be accidentally pulled free from the receptacle. To ensure the highest safety, operators should make connections outside of the hazardous area. The receptacle contacts are deep recessed to avoid accidental contact and contain brass contacts designed to exert constant pressure to ensure a secure connection. Ordinary location plugs will NOT activate this cord`s explosion proof receptacle.
