Made in Texas The Larson Electronics HAL-MPD-480V-5KVA-120.240-5X20 explosion proof power distribution system is designed for operators to power their single-phase 240V and 120V equipment within Class I, Division 2 rated areas. This unit provides operators the ability to safely tap into three-phase 480VAC from a variety of sources including generators and direct grid power. *PLEASE NOTE: ANY FREE SHIPPING OFFERS DO NOT APPLY TO POWER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS OR SUBSTATIONS* The portable power distribution system gives operators the ability to power their single-phase 240 volt and 120 volt equipment from a single system. On the primary side, operators connect three-phase 480 volt line-in power via 85` of #12/4 SOOW cable. On the secondary side, operators connect to two, Class I, Division 1 explosion proof CPS532-111 receptacles for 240V equipment and to three, Class I, Division 1 explosion proof GFCI receptacles for 120V equipment. For increased reliability during operation, line-in power as well as connections between the disconnect and transformer and between the transformer and secondary panel consist of heavy-duty SOOW cords. Operation: An 85` #12/4 SOOW line-in cable brings 480V three-phase power to the 30-amp rated Class I, Division 1 explosion proof 480V three phase primary disconnect, which is fused at 15 amps, and passes 480V single phase to the explosion proof transformer. Liquid-tite flexible cord connect the primary panel to the transformer. The Class I, Division 2 5KVA transformer converts 480V single-phase power to 120/240V single phase and passes the current to the secondary panel. Liquid-tite flexible cord connect the transformer to the secondary panel. The secondary side of the transformer feeds a 50-amp rated Class I, Division 1 explosion proof 120/240V single-phase main lug only panel. This secondary panel contains two 20-amp, 250V, 2-pole breakers protecting two 20-amp Class I, Division 1 explosion proof 250V CPS532-111 receptacles, and three 20-amp, 125V, 1-pole breakers protecting three 20-amp Class I, Division 1 explosion proof 125V GFCI receptacles. The receptacles are mounted to an aluminum back plate for easy connection for equipment in the field. All receptacles are equipped with weatherproof covers. Operators are provided access to one Class I, Division 2 LED light and switch, which are located at the top of the cart. Protective Construction: Unlike many portable power distribution boxes made of plastic and utilizing thin gauge, low grade metals in their construction, this unit is designed for serious use and is ruggedly constructed to withstand demanding conditions and heavy duty industrial applications. The transformer and load assembly are mounted on a non-sparking aluminum mounting platform and the load center/distribution assembly is mounted to the standard 2" x 2" square non-sparking aluminum tubing frame, resulting in an extremely stable, durable and well protected power distribution platform. This model is equipped with forklift skid pockets, non-sparking locking casters, and four top located lifting eyelets at every corner which allows easy lifting with cable or chain hooks. This can be replaced for an additional cost with stainless steel or hot dip galvanized steel depending on the customer’s needs. Larger units are available upon request and can be equipped with skids or trailer mounted. Certification: Larson Electronics is a UL 1640 panel shop and certified to build portable power distribution systems. All units are built in accordance to NFPA 70 (National Electric Code) and certified to UL 1640. All equipment is NEMA 3R rated for indoor and outdoor use and provide a degree of protection against dirt, water, and ice. NEMA 4 and NEMA 4X equipment can be equipped upon request. Grounding: Transformer is grounded to the frame and we provide a grounding lug on the frame for the earth ground. ~Please check all motor loads for dual rated motors that will work 208 or 240.~ Applications: This power distribution system is designed for indoor and outdoor use in hazardous location areas for shipyard, plant maintenance and construction applications. Custom Built Systems Available: Larson Electronics is a manufacturer and we can build portable power distribution systems to your specifications. Although we carry several models of portable power distribution systems in stock, we can deliver custom ordered units almost as quickly as our prebuilt units.
