The B-Mount battery is a new design, developed for the ARRI ALEXA 35 digital cinematography camera. The new B-MOUNT system, which isnÕt an industry standard yet has several advantages over the existing V-Mount and Gold-Mount standards. Through the additional data pins, the camera can communicate with the B-Mount battery and read the status of cycles or battery capacity. Different battery plates, designed for 14.8 or 28V can communicate with the battery. It works in a way so that the battery can automatically switch its voltage to the according type of plate and applied device. This is convenient when using bi-voltage batteries. The mounting mechanism is designed to be more rigid so the battery doesnÕt move or have any loose play while on a camera. Due to the internal release mechanism, the battery plates have a smaller footprint than with V- or Gold-Mount plates. This is an advantage that pays forward, as digital camera designs are reduced in size.
B-Mount batteries will be available in different designs and with different power specifications. But the minimum power output is specified at 15 amps at 24V mean.
