This Recmar Stalon Cockpit Drain 1-1/2" is one of the industry standards. This drain is installed from the top and employs a foam ball to help reduce back-flow when the operator reverses the boat. Because a sea can inundate your cockpit, the cockpit drains must be capable of emptying the water in less than a minute or two. While most of the water from a filling wave is rolled out, the drains must empty the footwell below sea level.
