The plug is Class 1, Division 1 & 2 and Class 2, Division 1 & 2 rated. In order to complete the seal and preserve the plugs` explosion proof approval, the operator must connect the plug to a matching explosion proof outlet receptacle. Although this plug will work with a standard outlet, connecting to a regular 120VAC outlet renders the plugs` explosion proof rating useless and should only be done when connecting the light outside of the explosion proof environment.
