A pitot tube is used in a manually operated boat speedometer and is also known as a pitometer. It has two holes for measuring speed and runs through the hull and into the water below. As you ride, water enters the tube through one hole, and the speed of the water is measured as it enters the first hole, and the water pressure is measured as it enters the second hole.
