Stanchion post mount for boat lights that has a 2 pin gold coated connector in the base. The base slides and locks into a sliding door Perko socket via a twist collar. The Perko socket can be attached to any surface including fiberglass and will securely hold the light in place. The red and green running lights are generally wired serially, so that they go on when power is sent to the unit (via dash mount toggle, for example). The purpose of this assembly is two fold. Once attached to your light, the wiring is contained within the pole, keeping it dry and secure. Second, the red/green running lights needed at night are also engaged, so you are not running 2 wire harnesses for 2 different lights. Generally, these post mount (stanchion mount lights) are handy on boats because they elevate the light over the boat`s side, increasing the usefulness of the light. More importantly, the operator can unlock the bottom collar and slide the light out of the socket and store it safely during the day or when the boat is docked. With the light removed, you can put on your boat cover, fish, wake board, etc. without having the light in the way. This assembly can be used to mount to an existing Golight Radioray (GL-2000 series) spotlight or just about any light. The Golight Radioray (4 mounting holes) mounting patterns are already tapped into the plate. There are several other mounting hole patterns in the stainless steel mounting plate, including 3/8 - inch center hole mount for most High Intensity Discharge (HID) or 12 volt halogen stud mount lights, including the Larson Electronics 24 volt equipment lights, HID boat lights or just about any brand of off road halogen or HID light. www.larsonelectronics.com now offers this pole mount lighting option in lengths of 6 inches, 12 inches and 24 inches to work within any environment.
