The X335PL LED Spotlight is a powerful lighting solution for vehicles and outdoor, rugged environments. The 30-watt unit features a spot beam configuration that is capable of reaching distances up to 600 feet. This unit is protected by a a polycarbonate lens. Operators may control the position of the light using a rubber handle. The low voltage light comes in the following color options: black or chrome (installation kit sold separately). The LED spotlight features a 215,000 industrial candlepower rating, allowing the unit to project a 600` spot beam. This 30-watt luminary operates on 12V DC and draws 2.5 amps during operation. A thumb-activated switch near the handle is available for toggling. Operator controls rotation and elevation of spotlight outside of vehicle by twisting and turning a handle on the inside of the vehicle. Operator remains protected from the elements and can position the beam quickly and easily. The beam remains where the operator places it until the handle is moved. LED Benefits: Unlike gas burning and arc type lamps that have glass bulbs, LEDs have no filaments or fragile housings to break during operation and/or transportation. Instead of heating a small filament or using a combination of gases to produce light, light emitting diodes (LEDs) use semi-conductive materials that illuminate when electric current is applied, providing instant illumination with no warm up or cool down time before re-striking. Because there is no warm up period, this light can be cycled on and off with no reduction in lamp life. LED lights run at significantly cooler temperatures than traditional metal halide and high pressure sodium lights and contain no harmful gases, vapors, or mercury, making them both safer and more energy efficient. No extra energy is wasted in cooling enclosed work areas due to external heat emissions from bulb type lights, and the operator risks associated with traditional lighting methods, such as accidental burns and exposure to hazardous substances contained in the glass bulbs, are eliminated. In addition, LEDs are also safer for the environment as they are 100% recyclable, which eliminates the need for costly special disposal services required with traditional gas burning and arc type lamps. Durability: The X335PL is housed in a 6` round high impact ABS housing (no rusting). Chrome models are ABS plastic with a chrome dip. The lamp head features a replaceable polycarbonate lens with a UV protectant hard coating. An internal precision molded polycarbonate reflector provides a precise 9¡H x 9¡V beam pattern. The nickeled plated zinc die cast heat sink is vented with a GORE-TEX membrane for proper the internal cooling of the LED assembly during operation to prevent premature failure of the LED lamp. Mounting/Wiring: This unit can be mounted via post or door. Post mount spotlights are the most common installation options, with the mounting going through the A-pillar running alongside the windshield. The A-pillar is the metal frame on the side of the windshield. Inside post mount spotlights are common in late model vehicles, but the installation requires more time as one must drill through the A-pillar and cut a small notch in the forward window support of the door. Both inside post mount lights and post mount lights are mounted in the A-pillar. The difference is the angle of the light. Door mount lights are mounted in the door. The door mount spotlight is an easy installation but the spotlight will move with the door when the door is opened and closed. While this isn’t suitable for most police patrol cars, most other operators find the door mount acceptable. In many cases, a particular make and model vehicle will not have a post mount spotlight option because the A-pillar is too small, but usually these vehicles have a door mount and a inside post mount option. A single positive lead from the handle is available for connection to a low voltage power source.
