The EPL-PT-150LED-RT-LV-DNS.MS-SOL-C1D2 Explosion Proof Solar-powered LED Fixture from Larson Electronics is ideal for illuminating hazardous locations and remote industrial facilities. This lighting system consists of an explosion proof 150-watt LED lamp, two 190-watt solar panels and an external Class I, Division 2 enclosure, which houses two, 250aH batteries and controls. The LED light features dusk-to-dawn and motion sensors to increase system runtime. A slip fit yoke mount allows operators to adjust the positioning of the light directly over the target area.

The EPL-PT-150LED-RT-LV-DNS.MS-SOL-C1D2 is a sustainable lighting solution for illumination in hazardous locations. An explosion proof, 150-watt LED lamp provides 17,500 lumens of white light with a color temperature rating of 5,000K. Featuring a flood beam pattern, the low voltage unit can accommodate wide spaces. Powering the LED luminary are two 190-watt solar panels and two, 250aH batteries. The explosion proof light is constructed of cast aluminum with a hardened borosilicate glass lens.

LED Benefits: Unlike gas burning and arc type lamps that have glass bulbs, LEDs have no filaments or fragile housings to break during operation and/or transportation. Instead of heating a small filament or using a combination of gases to produce light, light emitting diodes (LEDs) use semi-conductive materials that illuminate when electric current is applied, providing instant illumination with no warm up or cool down time before re-striking. Because there is no warm up period, this light can be cycled on and off with no reduction in lamp life.

LED lights run at significantly cooler temperatures than traditional metal halide and high pressure sodium lights and contain no harmful gases, vapors, or mercury, making them both safer and more energy efficient. No extra energy is wasted in cooling enclosed work areas due to external heat emissions from bulb type lights, and the operator risks associated with traditional lighting methods, such as accidental burns and exposure to hazardous substances contained in the glass bulbs, are eliminated. Solid state LED lighting is also safer for the environment as LEDs are 100% recyclable. And recycling simultaneously reduces operating costs by eliminating the need for the expensive special disposal services required with traditional gas burning and arc type lamps.

Battery/Solar Panels: Charged by two 190-watt rated solar panels, two 12V 250aH 8D batteries provide constant, reliable power to the LED fixture. As with all solar powered equipment, charging time is affected by the amount of available ambient light. Indirect sunlight and low ambient light levels, such as on cloudy days, will extend the charge time. The valve regulated lead acid batteries and controls are contained within a heavy-duty remote enclosure that is powder coated aluminum for corrosion resistance and includes pad-lockable hasps. The Class I, Division 2 enclosure is equipped with circuit breakers for short circuit protection.

Light Sensors: This system includes an explosion proof dusk-to-dawn and explosion proof motion sensor. The dusk-to-dawn sensor is located next to the battery enclosure with an adjustable trunnion mount for proper installation. This sensor turns on the light when ambient light levels in the area drops below 3 footcandles. The sensor turns off the light when ambient light levels in the area reaches 8 footcandles. When activated, the light is dimmed to 30% by default.

An included motion sensor increases the light`s brightness level from 30% to 100% upon sensing movement in the area. When no motion is detected for 5 minutes, the light will dim back to 30% brightness. This waiting period is adjustable between 0.5 seconds and 15 minutes. The explosion proof motion sensor comes with 20 feet of cord from the battery enclosure for remote installations. The motion sensor can cover a 15` x 15` area when mounted at a height of 16`.

Mounting: The explosion proof light features an adjustable swivel bracket constructed of 3/8" aluminum that allows over 270¡ of adjustment and is attached to a slip fit yoke mount for easy installation. The slip fit yoke caters to customer`s specs, enabling operators to mount this explosion proof LED light to their specific pole size. For example, selecting a 2" OD mount means that the yoke mount will fit onto pipes or bull horns with a 2" OD.

During installation, operators may mount the solar panels away from the LED lamp on a pole, allowing optimized positioning for direct exposure to sunlight (not in the hazardous area). Standard installation for explosion proof lighting, including threaded rigid pipe to the LED light fixture and appropriate seal-offs, etc. are required.

Wiring: The EPL-PT-150LED-RT-LV-DNS.MS-SOL-C1D2 ships with 40 feet of 12/2 SOOW cord, consisting of 20` 12/2 SOOW cord between the solar panels and battery enclosure, and 20` 12/2 SOOW cord between the battery enclosure and the explosion proof LED lamp. Custom lengths are available upon request. Please contact us for special requirements.

Applications: Paint spray booths, aircraft maintenance, oil drilling rigs, refineries, solvent and cleaning areas, gas processing plants, chemical manufacturing, waste treatment plants, agricultural sites, grain storage facilities and more.
