The F-90 is a pure tallow base mixture. It serves to lubricate, fill, and close the belt with its heavy-bodied grease film. The purpose of having a thick grease film on the belt could be dual. It causes glazing or burnishing action when applied to fine grit-coated abrasive belts. The grease film is heavy enough to stay on the coarse grit belt even under severe conditions.
