Avoid using hose clamps with perforated bands because the holes weaken the clamp and provide a breeding ground for corrosion, both of which may be prevented by utilizing embossed bands. Hose clamps used on a marine vessel should be high-grade stainless steel to avoid corrosion. They're right there in the boat's bottom, and you don't even notice them. However, the hose clamp may be all that keeps your boat afloat.
