This item listed as a portable luminaire per Article 410 of the 2008 NEC Code. According to section 410.16 they are suitable for dry location installations inside Clothes Closets & Storage areas. The minimum clearance between luminaries installed in clothes closets and the nearest point of a storage space shall be 6" for the Recessed Mounted version and 12" for the Surface Mounted version.
